Your guide to
Surrounded by woods and farmland, Wenvoe lies between Barry and Cardiff in the Vale of Glamorgan. A thriving farming community for centuries, Wenvoe, while still a farming village to an extent, has doubled in population in the last hundred years due to the vast amount of high-end property created.
There is a good concentration of historic, listed buildings along the Old Port Road, with the historic core centred around St. Mary’s Church. Newer housing developments, such as The Grange, a Redrow homes site, do not appear to have impinged on the historic character of the village centre.
There is a village shop with a post office, church, hotel, a part-time library, barber and three village halls. Wenvoe has a very healthy community spirit which supports many local community groups. Amongst these are a Scout Group, Ladies Choir, W.I. Whist Drives and many social events. It also boasts its own monthly newspaper.
There is no train station in Wenvoe but it has very good access links to the M4, Cardiff and Barry.
Gwenfo Church in Wales Primary School is a feeder school for secondary schools in Barry and Cardiff.
