Llandough is a residential area lying to the northwest of Penarth town, overlooking Cardiff, Penarth and the Bristol Channel. Until the mid-1960s, Llandough was a small farming and quarrying village but experienced an expansion at this time involving the building of a large number of houses and a primary school. Llandough hospital means that houses and flats are popular with hospital workers.
There were around six thatched cottages in the village around 1960, but only one remains. The majority of houses near Llandough Primary school were built in the mid-1960’s with newer housing situated at Spencer Drive (1990’s) and a brand new housing estate at Canon Walk near St Dochdwy’s Church.
There are newly refurbished tennis courts, playing fields, a village hall, a church, local pub and regular village fetes.
Cogan train station is approximately a 15 minute walk from the main housing estate off Dochdwy Road. There are regular bus links to Penarth / Barry and Cardiff.
Llandough Primary School is a feeder school for Penarth’s largest secondary school, St Cyres.
